welcome to the family

This is Carlos i adopted him today! no I'm not going to have him at my house I'm just sponsoring him. He is my 2nd favourite animal and I think more people should sponsor them because because there is so much logging, soon there will so little place for them to live. Well I like to make differences and I think that should be the greatest trend and fashion statement.

Madames et messieurs, les jeux sont faits!

Let's start of with a little quote I saw on a postcard, oui?
Can we? Shall we? Call in sick one day and travel to the sea and hold hands all day.
Can we? Shall we? Eat our sandwiches on the train, get drunk on fresh air
and come home tired  and never tell anyone...ever."
-Rob Ryan-

Bonjour Lovelies!

Well it has been a while since I last posted something.. and I'm not going lie, I was just plain lazy therefore my procrastination got the better of me.

But after reading Briony's marvelous effort at keeping zee blog going and not abandoning the dear little thing.... I must say I am inspired.. ***Kudos to Briony***.. so I decided to come up with a list of books and bands that brightened up my September!

Enjoy!

Books

Lolita- Vladimir Nobokov

[Ah! First of all, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you to one of my dearest friends for buying this book after I mentioned how

I wanted to read it a couple of times!]

Even though 'Lolita' is about a psychopathic pedophile who pries on young girls (or 'nymphets' as he likes yo refer to them),

It is one of the most lyrical and engaging books I have read in a long time. Although some parts caused me to wince in horror.. I adore this book!

Nabokov's imagery and descriptions are vivid and simply amazing!

The Catcher in the Rye- J.D Salinger

This book, pretty much made my month!

The protagonist- Holden Caulfield- a teenaged boy is witty, amusing and absolutely hilarious with his

peculiar way of thinking and his logical yet strange take on life.

The book has marvelous quotes which I adore.. here are a few:

What I was really hanging around for, I was trying to feel some kind of a good-by.  I mean I've left schools and places I didn't even know I was leaving them.  I hate that.  I don't care if it's a sad good-by or a bad good-by, but when I leave a place I like to know I'm leaving it.  If you don't, you feel even worse.  -Chapter 1-

I was half in love with her by the time we sat down.  That's the thing about girls.  Every time they do something pretty, even if they're not much to look at, or even if they're sort of stupid, you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are.  Girls.  Jesus Christ.  They can drive you crazy.  They really can. - Chapter 10-

Boy, when you're dead, they really fix you up.  I hope to hell when I do die somebody has sense enough to just dump me in the river or something.  Anything except sticking me in a goddam cemetery.  People coming and putting a bunch of flowers on your stomach on Sunday, and all that crap.  Who wants flowers when you're dead?  Nobody.  -Chapter 20-

She was terrific to hold hands with. Most girls, if you hold hands with them, their goddam hand dieson you, or else they think they have to keep moving their hands all the time, as if they were afraid they'd bore you or something. Jane was different. We'd get into a goddam movie or something, and right away we'd start holding hands, and we won't quite till the movie was over. And without changing the position or making a deal out of it. You never even worried, with Jane, whether your hand was sweaty or not. All you knew was, you were happy. You really were.
-Chapter 11-

As for bands, I decided to listen to a a whole batch of songs I hadn't listened to in ages.

Most of the songs I listened to reminded me of Summer- (perhaps that was the last time I listened to them? I don't know..) and others

reminded me of those subliminal things I used to 'link' to those songs when I first heard them.. trippy stuff! HA!

Well, zhese are zee songs!

Seaside- The Kooks

Gravity's Rainbow- Klaxons

Twist and Shout- The Beatles

Kissing the Lipless- The Shins

Crystalship- The Doors

Divine- Sebastien Tellier

Playground Love- Air

A cause des garcons- Yelle

You Only live once- The Strokes

Comic Strip- Serge Gainsbourg

If I ever feel better- Phoenix

Stars- Brian Jonestown Massacre

Ocean of Noise- Arcade Fire

And in other news, my holidays have been quite brilliant I must say. My grand-parents are here from overseas and my dearest Nan is stitching me a marvelous floral frock which I drew, so photos of that shall be on shortly.

Oh oh oh oh and i've finally mastered making cupcakes from scratch without making them taste like I poured a jug of sugar into the mixture.. oh you must try them one day!
